Slow and metered connections
A data-saving browser for Android on slow or metered connections
Blocking that stops ads and trackers from downloading, a data saver mode that turns images off and a running estimate of the data you did not download.
ArPar is a data-saving browser for Android. Blocked ads and trackers are never downloaded, data saver mode turns images off for slow or metered connections, and a running estimate shows the data you did not have to download. Reader mode strips a page down to its text. ArPar itself downloads at about 10 MB.
What data saver mode does
Data saver mode turns images off, for slow or metered connections. Pages load without their pictures, so they use less data. A running estimate shows the data you did not have to download.
Reader mode strips menus, pop-ups and clutter down to the text, for a lighter page to read.
Blocked requests are never downloaded
ArPar blocks ad and tracker requests before they load, so the bytes behind them are never downloaded. How much that saves depends on the page. For one measured example, read why blocking also saves data.
Blocking is on from the first page and needs no setup. The block lists are stored in the app, so ArPar decides what to block on your phone.
See what you saved
A live counter keeps totals for each page, this session and all time, and estimates the data you have saved. Tap the shield in the address bar to see what was blocked on the page you are on. The figure is an estimate, not a measurement of your connection.
ArPar has no server of its own that receives your browsing. Pages load directly from the sites you visit, and ArPar decides what to block on your phone.

Questions about saving data
Does blocking ads save data?
Yes. Requests to blocked ad and tracker domains are never downloaded. How much you save depends on the page.
Do I have to switch blocking on to save data?
No. Blocking is on from the first page and needs no setup. Data saver mode is the extra step for slow or metered connections.
Is the data saved figure exact?
No, it is an estimate of the data you did not have to download.
Do my pages go through an ArPar server to save data?
No. ArPar has no server of its own that receives your browsing, and it is a browser, not a VPN. Pages load directly from the sites you visit.
