An Android browser with a built-in ad and tracker blocker
No extension to install and nothing to switch on. Blocking runs on every page from the moment you open the app.
How does ArPar block ads? Block lists of 149,196 known ad and tracker domains ship inside the app. When a page asks for a resource from one of those domains, ArPar stops the request before it loads. You can pause blocking for a single site, and hide any other element yourself.
How the blocking works
- The lists are stored in the app, so ArPar decides what to block on your phone without sending the pages you visit anywhere.
- The shield in the address bar shows how many requests were blocked on the current page. Tap it to see the domains.
- Pausing blocking is per site, so a page that needs a tracker to work does not force you to switch blocking off everywhere.
- Long-press a link and choose "Never show me" to add a site to your own blocklist.
- You can hide any element on a page yourself, and ArPar remembers it on later visits.
Why it also saves data
Blocked requests are never downloaded. In one recorded test on a moto g9 running Android 11, a news homepage loaded 14.1 MB in another browser and 1.9 MB in ArPar, read from the phone's own network counter. That is one page on one phone, not a promise for every site. Data saver mode, which turns images off, saves more.
Where it does not help
- ArPar blocks by domain. Ads a site serves from its own domain can still appear; hide them with the element picker.
- ArPar does not block ads on YouTube.
- An ad blocker is not a VPN. Sites still see your IP address.
